American Panorama RV Vacation Itinerary

Where do we start? With attractions galore, RV campers will love this jewel of the desert! With free shuttles to the Strip from many campgrounds, you don’t have to miss a thing. The Bellagio fountains, the spectacular architecture of Excalibur and Mandalay Bay; the amazing Cirque du Soleil and dozens of first-run shows. Sleep away from the Strip in the peace and quiet of your RV, but don’t stay away long. Vegas has too much to offer!

You may arrive in Williams, Arizona ready to enjoy the splendor of the Grand Canyon, and by all means, don’t miss a thing. Attractions like Grand Canyon Village, Havasu Falls and the Grand Canyon Railway bring RV travelers flocking to Arizona. But save time to immerse yourselves in the Western atmosphere of Williams, a beautiful mountain town offering golf, a wildlife park and cowboy-themed attractions, just to name a few!

At the foot of the Superstition Mountains, Phoenix offers an incredible variety of museums! Even if this stop on your cross-country trip is only for one day, why not pick one to visit? The Arizona Museum for Youth offers hands-on exhibits for every age, while the Museum of Natural History, also in Mesa, walks visitors through Arizona history from prehistoric times. Walk the streets of Tombstone, AZ where Wyatt Earp and his brothers, along with Doc Holliday shot it out at the OK Corral in 1881.  The famous, and the infamous are buried at the Boothill Cemetary.  

This border town just across the bridge from Mexico makes a great stop along the way. Bursting with vibrant Latino culture, steeped in military history, and site of some of the oldest Catholic missions in the U.S., El Paso has plenty to keep you there an extra day!

Minutes down the road from both Carlsbad Caverns National Park and Guadalupe Mountains National Park, White’s City can be the center of a day of adventure. Camp in one of the area’s private RV campgrounds or camp close to hiking trails through canyons and up the side of mountains at the national park. Be sure to explore the rooms and other underground attractions at Carlsbad Caverns; it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience!

What says ‘West Texas’ better than cowboys, Native Americans and an 1860’s fort? Ft Stockton, Texas is filled with historic attractions to tour, photograph and enjoy. When you’ve finished touring the fort, the museum honoring a gunslinger’s widow and the rest of the historic district, stop off at the saloon to wet your whistle!

The River Walk in San Antonio is a sightseer’s dream, not to mention its amazing variety of restaurants and shops. Explore stone bridges and walkways. Discover the shops in the nooks and crannies of La Villita – San Antonio’s historic arts village right on the river. Experience The Alamo in person, ride to the top of the Tower of the Americas, and immerse yourself in Hispanic culture at El Mercado. Shreveport and its twin, Bossier City, on the other side of the Red River, are simply jumping with exciting things to do. Gamble at the riverboat casinos, eat crawfish and other Cajun delicacies in the area’s colorful eateries and pay homage at the statue of The King on Elvis Presley Avenue.

This lively town may sit high above the Mississippi on a bluff, but it’s definitely tied to the river! Roll into town in your rental RV and explore riverboat gambling, historic mansions and some of the finest fried catfish in America. Ignore the temptation to roll on through; Vicksburg is definitely a stop you’ll be glad you made!

There’s so much to see, taste and hear in the Big Easy, it’s hard to know where to start! Whether you choose to stroll the streets of the Garden District, take a boat tour of the bayou, brave Bourbon Street by night or absorb the flavors of the French Quarter by day, you’ll never forget the time you spent RV camping in New Orleans. This bustling city on Mobile Bay promises RV travelers an amazing variety of experiences. Drive south across the bridge to Dauphin Island. Swing down to Bayou La Batre for seafood like nowhere else.
