NHRA, which stands for the National Hot Rod Association, means super exciting racing with race speeds up to 200 mph with tires burning!

Events: With more than a dozen Sportsman classes of NHRA Divisional races including the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, the Summit Racing Equipment Racing Series and the NHRA Jr. Drag Racing League, you’ll have plenty of events and locations to choose from.

The NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series is a national event series which comprises 24 races each year. It is the premier series in drag racing that brings together the best drag racers from across North America and the world.

February – Magic Dry Absorbent NHRA Arizona Nationals at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park in Chandler, AZ.

March – Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals at Gainesville Raceway in Gainesville, FL.

April – DENSO Spark Plugs NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at the Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Las Vegas, NV.

Also in April – Mopar Express Lane NHRA Spring Nationals Presented by Pennzoil at Houston Raceway Park near Houston, TX.

NHRA Museum: Also located in Pomona, about an hour’s drive from Los Angeles, is the Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum, a non-profit organization whose mission is to celebrate the impact of motorsports on American culture. The Museum collects, preserves, exhibits and interprets the vehicles, stories and artifacts that represent America’s affection for, and the influence of, automotive speed and style in all its forms.

The National Hot Rod Association was formed by Wally Parks in 1951 as a drag racing governing body, which now sets rules and hosts events all over the US and Canada. Over 40,000 drivers are current members. You can check out the official NHRA website for more details.
