No matter where you head in the U.S., there are amazing sights and activities to fill your days with wonder and excitement. If you love to step back into the past and experience our country as it was, you will find a multitude of historical sites to visit. If you are more of a fisherman, you may find your trophy catch in a wide variety of rivers, lakes and streams along the way. An RV vacation can fulfill many dreams.

East Coast Adventures


The Maine Coast – Travel up Highway 1 along the water’s edge to see the best Maine has to offer. Stop in Portland to see the Portland Museum of Art and see the work of masters such as Winslow Homer, Degas and Renoir on display. View charming harbors with boats bobbing on the wakes, find shopping where you can buy unique gifts to take back home and walk historic streets. Outdoor recreation is something you won’t want to miss at Acadia National Park, where you can see the sea crashing on the rocks and hike among the pines. 


Chesapeake Country – This region is a magical place with more than a thousand miles of shoreline, open spaces and natural areas to enjoy. Explore the Caledon Natural Area and don’t forget your binoculars to watch the bald eagles flying overhead. Cruise the Potomac River and marvel at the Virginia and Maryland coastal waters. At the mouth of the Potomac, you can see the Reedville Fishermen's Museum and find out all about the fishing tales of yesteryear.


Florida’s Coastal Byway – Along the A1A Scenic & Historic Coastal Byway you’ll find breathtaking views, amazing wildlife, historic sites and plenty of recreational opportunities. St. Augustine is one spot you’ll want to spend some time exploring, and no matter the time of year, you will discover festivals galore. Besides many state parks scattered along your route, you will have to stop at some of the more popular tourists spots like the Canaveral National Seashore. Travel all the way to Key West for an incredible trip across expanses of blue water and interesting island Keys.

 

 

Mid-West Adventures


Illinois River Road – Illinois provides a rich history of the Mid-West, with lovely farmlands, waving grasses, wildflowers and forests. Traveling the Illinois River Road gives an RV vacation a special spark with mid-western flavor.  Visit some traditional wineries, quaint towns and have some outdoor fun. See where Indians hunted buffalo in the early days at Buffalo Rock State Park. Tour the upland forests at Catlin County Park and find RV camping at Condit’s Ranch, overlooking the Illinois River Valley.  Don’t miss the Mautino State Fish & Wildlife Area or Apple Blossom Farm as you continue the rest of your journey.


Colorado and the Rockies – On the Peak to Peak Scenic Byway you’ll drive 55 miles through amazing mountain scenery and experience the thrills only available to those who venture here. Central City is a must-see, with honky-tonk bars, Gold Country gambling, and historic tours. Hike and watch the wildlife in Golden Gate Canyon State Park and head north past more views and attractions to Estes Park, the gateway to famous Rocky Mountain National Park.


Texas Hill Country – The rugged hills of Central Texas beckon. An enchanting land of caves, palms and cowboy towns await you on a Texas Hill Country RV trip. Start out in Austin and travel south to San Antonio, visiting many colorful sights along the way.

Bandera is known as the Cowboy Capital of the World, and you will tap your toes to lively country music. On your way south, you must get out and stretch at Enchanted Rock State Natural Area and take a little hike around the pink granite mountain. Stop in Fredericksburg to browse the boutiques and galleries.

 

 

West Coast Adventures


Seattle’s Sound to Mountains - The Greenway from the lovely Seattle Sound to the mountains is a hiker’s paradise. Pick up regional trail maps to find the best places to go. Experience the forests of Washington State. Of course, a little history never hurt anyone. See Thorp Mill and take a self-guided tour of this historic spot. Trek through the pines at Lake Ingalls and hike along the John Wayne Pioneer Trail in Iron Horse State Park. You can breathe in the fresh air on the Alki Trail along Elliot Bay.


Reno, Nevada to San Francisco, California – Starting out in Reno, you will find a great adventure over the Sierra Nevada Mountains. This is truly one of beauty and splendor. After nightlife and fabulous entertainment provided you in Reno, you can embark on Interstate 80 for San Francisco. At Donner Memorial State Park you can picnic beside Donner Lake and smell those incredible pine fragrances. Just before getting to downtown Auburn, take time to view the tallest bridge in California – the Foresthill Bridge over the American River. In Sacramento, tour the State Capital and when you reach San Francisco, you must travel around to see all the sights, including the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco Zoo.


Banning Idyllwild Panoramic Highway – Beginning your journey in Banning, California, you will travel south to Idyllwild on a two-lane highway providing marvelous views. Just south of Banning, you will the Mount San Jacinto State Park and Wilderness Area, where you can take to the backcountry on a scenic hike. As you approach the San Bernardino National Forest a multitude of choices await you for outdoor recreation. Relax for a while in Idyllwild, browse the small shops and maybe get in some rock climbing. At Lake Hemet, you can camp by the lake and will certainly want to throw in a line and enjoy fishing a bit, unwinding from a long day.
